Dr. Peter Schweitzer is Professor at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology (IKSA) at University of Vienna and Professor Emeritus at University of Alaska Fairbanks. Professor Schweitzer works in the anthropology of Climate Change and Globalization in the Arctic and Subarctic examining  issues of mobility and identity in Alaska and Siberia, focusing on human communities in the North facing socioeconomic and environmental change. The research places emphasis on adaptive capacity of northern groups and individuals as well as the geopolitics and global resource economics that co-determine the social and cultural futures of the Arctic and Subarctic.
